It starts with choosing the yarn. The weight, the colour, the feel of it between the fingers. The piece begins with the thread.
A slip knot, then the first chain of stitches. The chain is the foundation. Every piece, large or small, starts the same way.
Single, double, treble. Stitch after stitch, row after row, the shape grows in the hands. Some pieces take an evening, some take weeks.
Fastened off, ends woven in, shape eased into place. Any small details (a button, an eye, a tassel) sewn by hand.
